Fish being the staple food of millions of people across the world, the need for raising or harvesting fish is also always on demand. So, there is a demand for workforce in Fisheries department. Fishery includes both capturing and harvesting of fish.

Educational Qualifications: To take-up fisheries course you must have completed your schooling with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects. Admission to Bachelor of Fisheries Science is done by the state Agriculture Universities, purely on the basis of merit. Students hailing from other states will have to get through the examination conducted by the (Indian Agriculture Research Council) - IARC. They can also avail educational fee assistance on the basis of special reservation.
Bachelor in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc) is a four-year (eight semesters) degree course.

Fisheries Science is an academic discipline of managing and understanding fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary subject that includes the biological study of life, habits and breeding of various species of fish. It also involves farming and husbandry of important fishes and aquatic organisms in fresh water, brackish water and any marine environment. Fishery science thus integrates study in biology, ecology, economics, mathematics, computing, and public policy.

 
Attributes required for this field: To excel in the fisheries course, you should have keen acumen in the subject and good learning capacity. Hard work and responsibility along with deep liking for the subject is essential.
