Chennai: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued notices to six universities in Tamil Nadu for their failure to establish grievance redressal centers, as mandated by UGC regulations.
The UGC had previously instructed all universities and colleges to set up grievance redressal centers or tribunals to ensure the safety of students and provide them with essential facilities.
The universities that have received notices include Annamalai University, Bharathidasan University, Thiruvalluvar University, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Tamil University, and Tamil Nadu Dr. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University.
These universities have reportedly not complied with the UGC directive for over a year, prompting the issuance of notices on behalf of the UGC.
