Haryana launches milk parlour scheme for aspiring entrepreneurs- 8-Sep-2011

Chandigarh: Aimed at generating more self- employment opportunities in the State, the Haryana government has introduced a unique milk parlour scheme that will carry 50 per cent grant subject to a ceiling.
    
The scheme, to be initiated by state Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, is aimed at encouraging aspiring entrepreneurs to set up their own milk parlours.
    
Any person could set up such parlours anywhere in the State under this scheme, an official spokesman said here.
    
For this purpose, the State Government will provide a 50 per cent grant on the purchase of refrigerators for storage of milk besides furniture and other items required for the functioning of the parlours.
    
He said that any person desirous of setting up a parlour could spend up to Rs 56,000 and seek 50 per cent grant on that basis.
    
"The purpose of this scheme is to create job avenues for more people and make quality milk available to consumers.
    
In the first phase of this scheme, 20 Milk Parlours would be set up, he said, adding district Veterinary hospitals had also been directed to make information in this regard available to the people.
    
For giving a further boost to milk production in the state, the spokesman said the government has introduced incentives for owners of high-milk yielding buffaloes.
