GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an important exam to an illustrious career for Engineering and Science graduates.

This exam paves way to Post Graduate studies and Research studies in premier institutions like IIT, NIT IISER and IISC along with scholarships.  Apart from this, it also opens up job opportunities to public sector undertakings that function under the central Government.

Who can take up? Those who have cleared Under Graduation studies in any one segments such as Engineering, Technology, Science and Architecture or Post Graduation studies in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Integrated Science or Dual degree in Msc., MCA., and M.Tech can take up this test.

Test Procedure:  Totally, this test covers 23 disciplines of Engineering and Science.  This objective type Computer Based Test (CBT) comprises of 65 questions for 100 marks. It tests the skill in diverse areas such as Engineering, Mathematics, Language, Analytical and Chemistry.  GATE carries negative scoring for wrong answers.

Junior Fellowship:  Based on this test, Junior Fellowship position is also offered in Anna University, Annamalai University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, IITs and several other educational institutions.   

Foreign Education: National University of Singapore in Singapore gives priority to those who have completed this test. Further, countries like Germany give importance to GATE scores to those who apply for higher education.

Important Note: GATE score are valid for three years alone.
