Why TNPSC exams attract many? - 1-Jan-1900

Madras Service Commission, which came into being under an Act of the Madras Legislature in 1929, was the first Provincial Public Service Commission in India. Soon, as the state was called Tamil Nadu in the year 1969, this commission took the name of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

Now, many youngsters await the notification from this commission to take up jobs in the Tamil Nadu government services after clearing a competitive exam.  

Exams conducted by TNPSC:

Group I & Group II

i) Preliminary exam
ii) Main exam 
Iii) Interview

Group IIA to Group VIII comprises of written examination without an interview. This commission also conducts exam for post like Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Health Inspectors and others too.

Who can apply: For Group I & II anybody completed Under Graduation can apply. For Croup IV & VIII, VAO should have completed class X.  Age

limit for general category is 30. However, OBC, SC and ST candidates are applicable for relaxation as per the govt. norms.

Change in exam pattern: In earlier years, for state govt. jobs, exams were to test candidates memory power. However, last two to three years the test is about the candidates analytical skills after deeply studying diverse portions.  

Those clearing Group I & II are posted 44 various positions that include Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintend of Police, Deputy Registrar and Deputy Commercial Tax Officer.
