WB University of Animal and Fishery Sciences to be shifted- 2-Jul-2012
Haringhata (WB): The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences will be shifted to Haringhata Dairy farm campus in Nadia district, state Animal and Animal Resources Minister Nure Alam Chowdhury said.
While the Under Graduate studies will take place here, the PG and the Research works will be undertaken in Belgachhia, Chowdhury said at a function at Haringhata Dairy Farm.
"We are planning to revive the dairy farm and giving more accent on production and marketing of milk by-products, the minister said after launching table butter product at the dairy farm.
A statue of Bidhan Chandra Roy was also unveiled on the occasion, on the birth anniversary of the chief minister.
"We are again producing 'Haringhata Butter' by the machine brought from Czechoslovakia which had become defunct for a long period," Chowdhury said.
Milk Commissionar Uday Shankar Nandi said, "The machine needed modification for bulk production of butter and some more new machines may be needed for the same."
The university, which was here about 8 years ago, was later shifted to Belgachia.
