Chennai: Tamil Nadu Engineering admissions under sports quota to be conducted on July 5 as per earlier schedule has been postponed to July 9 in the wake of state government announcing more seats through this allotment.
According to the earlier schedule released by the Anna University, counselling under sports quota was to begin on July 5 with verification of certificates commencing on July 2. However, now after the state's announcement of increasing the number of intake of students under this quota from 100 to 500, the counselling for this quota will be held on July 9 & 10.
After the state announcing this increase in allotment of seats under sports quota, Raymond Udayraj, TNEA, Secretary, told that the university immediately contacted more students over phone to come for certificate verification. We are calling 1,900 students for councelling to fill up this 500 allotted seats.
As, more students’ certificates need to be verified, the university has postponed the date to July 9 & 10. Ranking list for sport quota students would be released on July 6.
This change in date has been made for admission to Engineering studies alone. However, counselling for special category students would go as per schedule, July 5, told the Secretary.
