Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women (MLACW) was established in 1972 in memory of the late Maharani of Mysore who was the Regent of the erstwhile princely State Mysore from 1799 to 1810. Inspired by the wishes of the late Maharaja Krishna Raja Wodeyar I, the Maharaja of Mysore during 1902-1940 and the illustrious descendant of the Maharani, a group of enlightened persons of Bangalore, with the initiative of the late Prof K. N. V. Sastri, founded a Trust for running the College.
