Retired Army officer pens book of poems- 22-May-2015

Jodhpur: A former army officer has traced the value of duty, valour, brotherhood, honesty and patriotism for a soldier through a collection of poems in English.  

A book of poems titled "Reflections of a Soldier," penned by retired army officer Ajit Singh was released by Lt Gen Bobby Mathews, General Officer Commanding of Konark Corps at an event here last evening.
 
The book, said Mathews, would inspire readers of all ages to understand the emotions and feelings of a soldier as witnessed through various events in the history of India.  

"It will enrich the society in general and literature in a special way", he said.
 
The author Ajit Singh served in the Army, Air Force and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for 41 years and retired as a Gazette Civilian Officer (CO-1) in 1983.
 
The author said the objective of his poetry was to allow a common man to peek into a solider's life and describes the emotions that swept through him during various phases of his profession.
 
His career saw him on the front lines of combat with the Army during the Second World War and in more difficult terrains later during his stint with the BRO.
 
Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha introduced the book, written over a period of five decades and, talking about how it expresses the importance of duty, brotherhood, honesty, love, friendship, faith and patriotism of a soldier for the nation and the people.
