Indian students having pursued their medical education abroad must undertake the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening exam to ensure their eligibility for practicing or working in their home country.


The FMGE is administered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences.


Key Qualifications:


Citizenship of India is a prerequisite.


Completion of MBBS or its equivalent from a recognized primary medical course approved by the Embassy of India.


The results of the final medical course exam should be published by October 31, 2023, and relevant documents must be submitted.


Possession of an Eligibility Certificate from the National Medical Commission.


Exam Details:


The exam consists of a total of 300 multiple-choice questions, all in the English language.


Divided into two parts, each with 150 questions, the candidates are required to answer questions in each section within 150 minutes.


The first part of the examination is scheduled in the morning, and the second part in the afternoon.


No negative marking for incorrect answers, and a minimum score of 150 is necessary to pass.

Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Clinical Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiotherapy, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Orthopaedics, etc.


Exam Centers:


Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Vellore, Tirunelveli, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, among 45 other cities where the exam is held. 


Exam Fee: Rs.7,080 (inclusive of GST).
