Chhattisgarh launches campaign to assess teaching quality in schools- 23-Sep-2015

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has started a campaign to evaluate the quality of teaching in schools of the state under its recently launched A P J Abdul Kalam Shiksha Gunavatta Abhiyan (quality education campaign) aimed at improving the current education system.
 
"Under the campaign, as many as 48 thousand schools, including 33,715 primary and 13,961 middle, will be covered," an education department official said.
 
While special gram sabha is being held in villages for the evaluation of schools, ward sabha is being convened in towns for the purpose, he added.
 
Chief Minister Raman Singh had last month declared to launch a special dive named after former President to enhance the quality of education in the state.
 
All the details related to schools will be accessed through a special evaluation form, carrying 20 points, following which grading will be given to the institutions based on analysis.
 
In gram sabha and ward sabha, local public representatives and government officials will hold discussion on provisions mentioned in the form with the people, he said.
 
Regular attendance of students and teachers, role of schools management in meetings, school development scheme, conduct of teachers with students, teaching pattern, writing skill, scientific approach and interest are some of the questions mentioned in the evaluation form, he said.
 
After evaluation, schools will be categorised in four grades- A,B,C and D, the official said adding that subsequently action plan to improve the quality of education will be prepared.
