Tanda Medical College Gets MCI for PG Courses-

Dharamshala : Medical Council of India (MCI) had granted, in principle approval to Dr R P Govt Medical College Tanda for holding the Post Graduate courses in ten departments from the next session.

Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Dr Rajeev Bindal told UNI that MCI in its January 12 meeting, had in principle, agreed to grant an approval to Dr Tanda to hold Post Graduate Courses in ten different departments subject to the report from individual inspector of the MCI who would carry the inspections in individual departments hopefully by the end of current month.

Dr Bindal said that the final report submitted by the MCI team following the inspection of carried out in the first week of January this year regarding the Post Graduate courses in DRPGMC Tanda was approved by the MCI in its Executive Committee meeting on January 12. Minister expressing his gratitude to the MCI for granting the approval and hoped that the inspection reports of the individual inspectors of each department would also prove up to the mark on the MCI scale.

Dr Bindal said that DRPGMC had applied before MCI for granting an approval for 21 PG seats in ten departments which included two each in Medicines, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Community Medicines, Pharmacology, Anesthesia and Skin and VD and three in Gynecology. He said that following the MCI approval GOI would also grant an approval for the PG courses.

He said that now the MCI experts would inspect these departments individually hopefully by the end of this month.

Dr Bindal said, ''We have left negligible deficiency of 2.5 per cent during the previous inspection, so I am confident that the Post Graduate classes will start in this college from next session as the coming inspection report will certainly favour us'' The medical college Principal Dr Anil Chouhan said that all the ten departments were fully equipped with adequate man power, infrastructure and equipment and nothing had been left to chance.

He said that besides the ten departments in which the P G courses would start, there are other two concerned departments of Radiology and Pathology which would also get inspected by MCI.
