A specialty focusing on the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of disorders of the eye and vision care. The profession of examining the eyes, measuring vision and prescribing corrective lenses, diagnosing diseases of the eye and treating certain conditions that do not require license as a medical doctor. Through academic and clinical training, optometrists acquire knowledge and skills needed to diagnose, treat and prevent problems of the visual system. Providing health education, managing preventive regimen, supplying vision care to special groups of patients are all part of an optometrists work.
Duration of the course is 3 Years. Post Graduate in the same discipline is also available.
